Review of The Thirteenth Floor

The Description
Hannon Fuller discovers some very interesting information. Before he is able to tell the people he is killed, but before he died he left the information in an online virtual world related to the 1930's. All the people in the world have realistic reactions and emotions, so whats expected is unpredictable.

The Plot
Hannon Fuller a computer scientist that discovers an extremely important bit of data that is very valuable but would be terrible to have in the wrong hands.  He is about to tell his co-worker and friend, Douglas Hall, when he discovers he is being perused. After leaning this he decided to make the data hidden but accessible in a virtual world that is based on the 30's. Fuller is killed the night of the information exchange and suspecting anything at the time he checks the virtual world because he can not recall what he did the night before, the is what he wasn't expecting.

The Bottom Line
The movie really isn't that good, id give it 5/10, just for the fact that it could have been made with a little more conviction so to speak.

Review of Childeren of Men

Description
Children of Men is an apocalypse movie, it is about all the women on the planet no longer being fertile and able to produce human life.  Theo, the main character, is contacted by an old friend and the "human project", a group of rebels trying to help for the common good.  After contacted and being abducted by the human project they propose an offer to him to escort the last pregnant women across state line, which has insurmountable consequences for the rebel forces.

The Graphics
A lot of special effects are used, stuntmen, small scale structure, artificial war zone, etc. Complete computer generated scenes are not typically used in movies such as these unless they deal with outrageous backdrops or something of the sort. The combat scenes are very well put together and orchestrated. Just about all the weapons in the movie are for show but it accurately displays the creativeness of Hollywood.

Plot
Theo is hired by the "Human Project" to deliver the last known pregnant women to a safe zone. He uses a number of contacts as well as an old friend who supplies bud to the local enforcement force that controls the rebel prison camps. In the end he comes in contact with a local that give him and the girl a boat to meet the human project on.

Review of Blood and Bone

Description
An ex convict that goes from a prison to the streets for a chance at street fighting in the underground.  Little does everyone know that the true reason for his fighting was for a friends family on the outside. He has to rise to the top to help his friends family. Along the way he, of course, meets a girl which makes the movie take a twist.

The Graphics
Not a whole lot of artificial screen work in this particular cinema, the majority of the movie is fighting and that's whats takes place. Most of the stunts and fights are done by the actors themselves, the only time something was truly faked was the that scene that James looses his hand in a sword fight with bone, which more or less ends the mutual respect between him and the high class crowd in the movies.

Plot
A promise made to a friend in prison to find his friends old family and help is wife. When perusing his promise he turns to a world of underground street fighting. He faces a number of difficult opponents which he captures all the victories with ease. The main obstacle in the movie is a massive fighter nick-named hammer man.

The Graphics
The graphics in the film aren't used all that much because a lot of it is done with stunt men and pyrotechnics and fake bullets. All of the guns however are very real and military replica or military issue that fires blanks from the clips. The night vision and GPS tracking is something to see though.

While hes rooming there he developed a video game that is top of the line and winds up being steeled by the top designer at his work.

The Graphics
Not to many graphics other than the custom wall papers and program GUI interfaces that were made for show use on the computer. The only functioning graphics you see are on the classic game frogger, that they play in the brake room during Samantha's introduction. Review of Centurion

Description
117 AD the roman empire stretched from the African desert to the Caspian sea but its farthest, most untamed frontier was northern Britain. In the unforgiving land, the roman army encountered fierce resistance from the local hostiles called picts. Using guerrilla tactics and landscape to there advantage, they brought the invasion to a halt. The stalemate has lasted almost 20 years and now Rome has given orders to crush the rebel forces by any means necessary.

The Graphics
The computer generated wounds the soldiers both roman and pict alike are phenomenal. You can see a mans head cut clean off with an axe and yet the real person standing there on the screen received less than a scratch at best. The action scenes in the forests are by far the best, the classic phalanx the roman infantry displays is flawless but doesn't do so well when your out numbered and on fire.

Plot
The survives of a pict attack try to save a captured general, but when they realize its to late they have to run, on foot, for there lives against the truly natural trackers of the picts. After having killed the pict leaders son with a small scouting party during the night, the men are soon being tracked by a pict tracking party sworn by blood for vengeance for the kings dead son.

Review of Constantine

Description
Few are born with the gift of supernatural sight, John Constantine, a detective, was one of these people. After failing in his first life, he tries to buy back his way into heaven by literally fighting the forces that besiege his forsaken soul. One particular demon, the son of Satan in the movie, gives Constantine the ultimate test in endurance and moral understanding.

The Graphics
Much of this movie is done with CGI or computer generated back drops and action sequences. For instance the melting skin of the half breeds in the ending battle with Gabrial. The corpses transforming into ash unpon death. The most descriptive and imaginative portion of the movie was the trip to hell he takes to find evidence/traces of the sister. The concept they portray is a post apocalyptic world were everyone is a demon of some form.

The Plot
In his previous life John Constantine is a suicide angle, meaning he is destined for hell regardless of his doing in the second life that was granted to him, in turn for doing a little moral work. The alternate main character, Angela Dodson, has a twin sister that commits suicide but Angela refuses to believe her and persuades Constantine to help find the truth about her sisters death.

Review of Equilibrium

Description
In a world were feeling is illegal
the best on the force starts to see a lighter side.  Soon after the moral conflictions he discovers the underground of the "feeling world". A great action movie to say the least, not to mention a complicated plot and setting.

The Graphics
Better than computer generated graphics are actual action scenes. The main action parts in the movie are uniquely depicted by their perfection of realism, not to many computer generated parts in the movie out do the real life action.

The Plot
In a futuristic world where feeling is illegal, the dictator eliminates all crime with pharmaceutical help. A daily dose keeps the feelings away. When he eventually misses the drug scheduled, he is exposed to the brighter side of life and finds himself questioning the laws he is sworn to uphold.

Review of Out Cold

Description
Small town ski resort gets bought out by a ski resort entity. Along with the buy out come some renovations of the place, all of which are opposed by the locals of the resort. In the middle of the resort fiasco there are always troubled emotions, mostly between Rick Rambus and the owners daughter.

The Graphics
The stunts in the movie, considering it is a comedy are fairly often and well done. Regrettably most of which are not done by the actors them selves, mostly because there not professionals on a snowboard to say the least. There are no extra graphics as far as computer generated scenes go.

Plot
Mr. Magers, a snow resort tycoon, buys out the local ski mountain called "Bull Mountain". Previous to the buyout the new owners daughter and the new snow resort manager, a local snowboarder and former employee, had a past relationship during a 3 week vacation, which inevitably turns disastrous. The ending however is the original group terrorizing the christening of the newly found resort in front of the investors.

Review of The Matrix

Description
Software engineer by day but a computer hacker by night discovers a mysterious group of rebels that lifts the fog from his eyes. They expose the truth for the reason of his being and the part hes is meant to play in the fight against the common electric enemy.

The Graphics
The graphics in the film are used throughout but rarely noticed.  The movie is a born classic for action cinema.  A great scene that demonstrated the graphics was the lobby scene during the rescue.  2 versus 10 and nothing but guns, not bad for an action scene.

Plot
Neo takes a trip from "reality" to "reality"  after being bugged by the police, later to be revealed as agents. He goes from a normal life of luxury and convenience to a life of the modern day military setting.  The matrix is now a place only visited when necessary.
